For AI assistants
Model Context Protocol server · added 8 September 2026
The short version
Any assistant can invent six recipes from a list of ingredients. What it cannot do is check a real corpus of more than 120,000 recipes against a real shelf and tell you what you are short. That is what this server is for. Connect it, say what is in your fridge, and every answer comes back with the missing items named.
The endpoint
https://fridgetoforks.com/mcp
Add it as a custom connector in ChatGPT or Claude, or point any MCP client at
it. There is no account to make, no API key and no OAuth: it is anonymous and
read-only. Transport is Streamable HTTP over POST, protocol revision
2026-07-28; clients that still open with the older initialize
handshake are answered too. Twelve calls a minute per address.
What it can do
find_recipes_from_ingredients — give it what someone has and it returns real recipes, each with exactly what is missing. Cupboard staples are assumed: salt, oil, flour, common spices and 380 other things nobody wants listed back at them. Results are ordered by how much of your food a recipe uses against how many extra items it would send you out to buy, so the top answer is the one that costs you the fewest trips.
get_recipe_details — the ingredient lines, timings, servings and original source for any one of those recipes.
What it will not do
It returns no written cooking method. FridgeToForks writes its own method and rewrites it for the equipment each cook actually owns — the skillet, the air fryer, the slow cooker, the bread machine — and that belongs on the site, to the cook it was written for. It also cannot read or change anybody's account: there are no write tools here, and there is nothing signed in to reach.
Try it
curl -s https://fridgetoforks.com/mcp \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call",
"params":{"name":"find_recipes_from_ingredients",
"arguments":{"ingredients":["chicken thighs","cheddar","tomato"]}}}'
Cooking it
The recipes are real and so are the gaps, but the cooking happens here. Make a free account and the same corpus works from your own kitchen: it knows what you keep, what you have run out of, and what your pans are.
