FridgeToForks vs BigOven

One starts from a million recipes and helps you organise them. The other starts from your fridge. Here is the difference, and a search you can run right now.

Salt, oil, flour and the usual cupboard staples are assumed. No account needed.

What BigOven does well

BigOven's own headline is "1,000,000+ Recipes, Meal Planner and Grocery List", and that is a fair description. It is a long-standing recipe library with editorial picks, weekly videos, a meal planner, a grocery list, and a place to keep your own recipe collection. It is free to use, with a paid Pro tier for more. If you already know what you want to cook and want somewhere to plan and organise it, BigOven has had years to get that right.

Where FridgeToForks differs

BigOven starts from the recipe and sends you to the shop. FridgeToForks starts from the shelf. You tell it what is in the fridge, freezer and pantry (or keep that inventory stored) and it shows only the recipes your kitchen can reach tonight, with a live count. When one is a single item short, it names the item and builds the swap from what you have. Then the steps are rewritten for the pans and machines you own. A million recipes you cannot cook tonight is not more useful than six thousand you can.
