FridgeToForks vs MyFridgeFood
Both ask the same first question: what is in your fridge? Here is what each does with the answer, and a search you can run right now.
What MyFridgeFood does well
MyFridgeFood opens with "What's in your fridge?" and a long checklist of ingredients: tick what you have, and it shows recipes you can make. It is free, it has phone apps, its recipes are hosted on its own site rather than linked out, and it is run by a person who puts his email address on the homepage. It also takes recipes submitted by its readers and runs contests around them, which gives it a community feel the bigger sites lack.
Where FridgeToForks differs
A checklist is a fine way to enter a fridge once. FridgeToForks lets you type it, say it out loud, or keep it: your kitchen is stored by fridge, freezer and pantry, so on Tuesday the question is already answered. Then it goes past "you can make this": when a recipe is one thing short, it names the item and builds the swap from what you have, and it rewrites the steps for the appliances you own. Every recipe opens with its own step-by-step method and a chef you can ask mid-cook.
